Gavin Jones
Bay Education Trust Board Member and Chair of the Board
Gavin Jones is the Chair of the Bay Education Trust Board and chair of the Finance and Resources Committee.
Outside of the Trust, Gavin is Chief Executive Officer of Gavin Jones Consultancy, with a strong senior background in both operations and training within the hospitality sector. He has worked for some of the country’s leading brands, as well as smaller SME organisations. Having a proven track record to improve businesses through accelerated growth, increasing corporate standardisation, process flows and brand enhancement. Gavin brings all of this pedigree into the education sector to help the Trust with strategic thinking and development.
Keith Hayes
Bay Education Trust Board Member
Keith is a retiree living in Devon after a career in the financial services sector. He was a rated analyst of the European Auto sector for over 20 years as well as the head of Industrials equity research at Goldman Sachs Europe.
In 2006 he was appointed the Director of European Equity Research. In 2009 he relocated to Hong Kong where he was the Director of Goldman’s Asian Equity Research Department until his retirement in 2014.
Keith supports a number of charitable institutions, primarily involving a hospice for teenagers in the South West of England and the use of art and sport in the wider education of teenagers.

Mark Smith
Bay Education Trust Board Member
Mark has 34 years’ experience working in education, including 31 years at Paignton. He has held a variety of posts at the Academy including Head of Year, Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal and Principal before retiring at the end of the 2020/2021 academic year. Two of Mark’s four children went to the Academy, including one who then went on to university. Mark is a keen golfer, footballer and cyclist and he is passionate about the students experiencing a variety of extra-curricular experiences to support their academic studies.
Tim Stephens

Tim has been involved in primary school governance for over twenty years, having joined the governing body at Cockington Primary School in 1994 and until recently also a member of The Virtual School governing body, providing governance around the education of children in the care of the local authority.
Tim enjoys travel, sport, walking and spending time with the family. There is no job more rewarding than creating opportunities and the environment within which children can optimise their potential. He feels we need to provide experiences and support to help them prepare for the next stage of their education and for life in an ever evolving society.
